Nanette Tucker

Nanette has been in Chicago her whole life and a resident of Englewood over the last 10 years.  Having spent over 15 years helping people through social service, she is currently involved with Lakeview Employment Group which provides internships for hard to place individuals, is a designer and owner of FunkyThreads, and is the founder of Marie | Wesley, a resale boutique and member of the E.G. Woode collective.  She believes in the empowerment of being positive and that second chances, hard work, and perseverance will pay off in the long run. She joined E.G. Woode because it will not only help her with her personal and business growth, but also with growing her community by being a part of a group of individuals committed to social change in an economically challenged community.

Through Marie | Wesley, Nannette wants to not only bring a new resale boutique to Englewood, but also use the business to bring employment options to Englewood at a living wage to individuals making their way back into the community from prison, homelessness, and chronic unemployment to help end the cycle of recidivism in the community. Marie | Wesley will also provide opportunities for fashion design students to learn and create fashion under the Marie | Wesley brand.  Through Marie | Wesley, Nannette will satisfy a lifelong dream of being an entrepreneur and to create a social enterprise that will assist with the economic growth of the community as well as the economic growth of the residents that live there.
